Bad UX: 8.5-Inch Wide Envelop

Share

Recently I had to make some changes to my credit cards so my credit card company sent me several forms to sign, and enclosed prepaid envelop in each mail.

I filled and signed the form, printed out the documents they require, and folded 2 pieces of paper with regular "letter fold", then tried to stuff them into the prepaid envelop.I immediately noticed that those paper couldn't get in easily.I then measured the letter-size paper with the width of the envelop, they were the same! Just to make sure, I took out my ruler and measured again, yes, exactly 8.5 inches from outside the envelop.

Did I miss anything? Am I supposed to fold the documents differently in order to stuff them in nicely? I don't know the answer. Eventually I just forced them in and sealed the envelop - of course the seal flap couldn't close nicely either since the height was of the envelop was exactly 1/3 of letter size as well.

Why? I couldn't help wondering. I do realized that this envelop could fit in the standard #10 envelop (9.5" x 4.125") that they sent easily without being folded to half. But is that worth the trouble that customer would get into? Or is that some kinda form of "green" act?? Speaking of user experiences!

Here I am

Here  I am, starting a new version of aboutliz.com website.

It seems typical that when you do design type of work, your own website will be on to-do list forever. Keep changing ideas; never 100% satisfy with what you did for your own site; or simply couldn't find the time or motivation. The previous version was Flash based, driven by XML. I never finished that one either - except the contact and portfolio section. Even the portfolio was out of date.

So here it goes, Joomla plus template. Quick and easy. After all, it is more efficient to devote my time to clients' projects, instead of my own. Isn't it?
